Galetech Group is a specialist renewable energy development and services group that develops renewable energy projects and provides planning, environmental and advisory support to our clients on a wide range of wind and renewable energy projects. We are Irish owned, and our team includes over 130 people. We are market leading specialists in the development of renewable energy projects in Ireland, Africa and across Europe. To date we have delivered over 500MW of wind capacity, and we currently have over 600MW of onshore, 2GW of offshore in addition to 300MW of energy storage in our development pipeline.


We are looking for a Fisheries Liaison Officer to join our ever-growing team. This is an exciting role and is perfect for anyone who is passionate about making our energy transition happen in tandem with co-existing alongside marine users in particular the fisheries industry.



What you will do:

  • Primarily build and manage communication and relationships with the marine sector, in particular the fisheries industry/seafood stakeholders.

  • Attend, manage and actively contribute to quay/pier/dock side meetings with fishermen/women.

  • Manage and co-ordinate liaison between the Galetech Development team and all relevant stakeholders such as fisheries/seafood industry, community etc.

  • Establish a strong, positive working relationship with these stakeholders & actively listen to any concerns and effectively feedback project information.

  • Manage and co-ordinate all project updates to relevant stakeholders via website, social media, emails and phone, newspaper, radio, webinars etc

  • Regularly update website, social media with relevant information & build virtual exhibition room.

  • Manage stakeholder log to ensure a full record of all correspondence and public engagement is recorded and reply to all correspondence in a timely manner.

  • Oversee all stakeholder events & develop Frequently asked questions post each event.

  • Inform and communicate with Government bodies, local industry, councils and other developers.

  • Regular involvement with Wind Energy Ireland and other relevant industry counterparts & sit on these groups.

  • Report weekly on activities to relevant project manager.

  • Educational information to local schools and groups & serve as a resource for the local community.

  • Flexibility will be part of the role as the project progresses through different stages.


Who we are looking for:


  • Someone who thrives in an atmosphere of discovery.

  • Someone with an understanding of the issues faced by both offshore wind developers and the fishing/seafood industry.

  • Someone who has a knowledge of and experience in the fisheries industry and/or the marine sector.

  • Someone with strong interpersonal skills, who enjoys meeting people.

  • Someone with good attention to detail and the ability to keep accurate records.

  • Someone that is motivated by the need for the marine and renewables industry to successfully work together to achieve a sustainable future for all.

  • Ideally candidates would have previous experience in community engagement and knowledge of best practice in terms of community relations and public relations.

Note: This role will involve regular travel to meet stakeholders.  The successful candidate will need to be flexible and accessible to stakeholders recognising in particular that the seafood industry is not a regular 9am to 5pm type industry.
