We recently had the pleasure of visiting St. Brendan's secondary school in Birr, Co. Offaly for an engaging session on the world of wind energy, career opportunities, turbine technicians and the mechanics of turbines. The visit was a journey into renewable energy and to show the possibilities for local wind farms.
We were thrilled to have two separate sessions for the 3rd year and 5th year students.
The Cush wind farm team delved into the autonomy of wind turbines and navigated through the components and showing the impact these have on an area and how it gives back to the community, the county and the national targets. This brought about lots of conversation on how the students could explore roles in engineering, environmental science, project management to name a few.
The session concluded with lots of questions and answers where the students from both years had lots of thoughts on the climate action plan, the related job paths and its diversity and what can be achieved with a good team!
Our visit to St. Brendan’s School was more than just an informative session; it was an opportunity to sow the seeds of inspiration and keep the community involved, asking questions and spark an interest in budding minds!
Together, we aim to pave the way for a greener future by nurturing a generation passionate about making a difference.
