large-scale solar project
Our Contracts team successfully delivered a grid-connected solar PV system designed to make the most of the available roof space and sunlight throughout the day.
The system includes 506 high-efficiency solar panels and three Huawei inverters, providing a total installed capacity of 220.11 kWp.

Challenge
The installation had to be completed on an existing copper standing seam roof. The key challenge was identifying a mounting solution that would not penetrate or compromise the copper roof, maintaining roof watertightness and preserving the design life of the standing seam system - while still meeting required wind/snow loading and providing a secure long-term PV fixing.

Solution
A non-penetrating standing seam clamp system was selected: Solrmount component SM-PRO-01 Standing Seam Hook , which clamps to the seam rather than requiring roof penetrations. The product specification indicates: AL 6005-T5 and SUS 304 stainless steel construction with EPDM interface material, supporting durability and reducing risk of galvanic interaction and surface damage on the roof. It is specified for pitch roof application, with loading/wind parameters shown (wind speed <60 m/s, snow load <1.4 kN/m²) and relevant standards listed on the datasheet.

Outcome
The completed system is expected to deliver approximately 203,044 kWh/year with a performance ratio of 93.2%, specific yield of 922.11 kWh/kWp, and self-consumption of 71.3%, avoiding an estimated 95,393 kg CO₂/year.
By using a standing seam clamp approach, the PV system achieves secure roof mounting without compromising the copper roof covering, supporting the roof’s intended design life while providing a maintainable, monitorable solar installation.
