At Galetech, we believe the future of energy lies in innovation and collaboration. As we expand into e-Fuels - creating sustainable fuels from renewable resources - we’re proud to introduce the experts leading this exciting new chapter.

Michael Bermingham - Director,
e-Fuels
Michael Bermingham is a seasoned power generation expert with more than two decades of industry experience and a degree in Mechanical Engineering from University College Dublin. His career spans hands-on engineering roles and strategic consultancy across Ireland, Africa, and Asia.
At Galetech, Michael leads our e-Fuels strategy, focusing on identifying emerging opportunities worldwide - particularly in Ireland and Africa - and advancing our mission to transform renewable energy into sustainable liquid fuels.
Career Highlights:
14 years with ESB International, working with utilities across Ghana, Liberia, and the Philippines.
Early career at GE Panametrics, developing expertise in instrumentation and gas analysis.
Michael on e-Fuels:
“We’re taking renewable energy to its ultimate destination - producing liquid fuels from air and water.”

Keith Byrne - Implementation Manager, e-Fuels
With more than 20 years’ experience in the energy sector and a Master’s degree from University College Cork, Keith Byrne brings deep expertise in large-scale offshore oil, gas, and renewable projects. His work spans Europe, America, and Africa, with a strong focus on integrating safety, sustainability, and technical excellence.
At Galetech, Keith plays a critical role in turning our e-Fuels strategy into reality, overseeing implementation and ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards.
Career Highlights:
Led a €5 million industry-funded research programme advancing safety and sustainability in energy transition projects.
Managed complex, international, multidisciplinary collaborations across three continents.
Keith on e-Fuels:
“This is about moving cutting-edge research into commercial reality and making sustainable fuels viable at scale.”

Darren Sherry - Co-Founder & Director, Galetech Group
Darren Sherry is a founding director of Galetech Group and associated companies, bringing over 25 years of pioneering experience and dedication to the renewable energy sector. Under his leadership, Galetech has become a frontrunner in the development and implementation of wind energy projects, with a portfolio exceeding 1 GW of wind energy developed across Ireland and beyond.
Key Achievements
Guided Galetech’s evolution into a trusted renewable energy partner, contributing to national onshore and offshore wind strategies.
Played a pivotal role in shaping Ireland's energy policy through innovative projects and long-term advocacy for sustainable solutions.
Darren on e-Fuels:
“Looking ahead, e-fuels will play a decisive role in decarbonising aviation and other hard-to-abate sectors. Our ambition is to lead this emerging market by leveraging renewable resources to produce sustainable fuels that deliver real climate impact.”

Herman Busschots - Senior Managing Director, Galetech e-Fuels
Herman Busschots has decades of experience in the energy sector, beginning his career in Belgium before moving to Ireland in the 1980s. Today, he leads Galetech’s international e-Fuels development.
At Galetech, Herman is spearheading groundbreaking projects in Kenya, including:
A 1GW electrolyser project in rural Kenya aimed at producing Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) for European markets.
A coastal green ammonia project, supported by hydropower imports from Ethiopia, designed for easy export to international markets.
Herman on e-Fuels:
“The e-Fuels industry today reminds me of the early 1990s when Ireland’s wind sector was just beginning. Many doubted it would work, but look at it now. We believe e-Fuels are at the same turning point - and the timing is right to lead.”

Chryssa Syrelli - Commercial Risk Advisor, Galetech Group
With nearly 20 years at General Electric and a career spanning Athens, London, Italy, and Switzerland, Chryssa Syrelli brings extensive global experience in renewable energy and commercial risk management.
At Galetech, Chryssa advises on commercial strategy and risk, helping the business put in place the structures and processes needed to grow sustainably while capturing new opportunities in the e-Fuels space.
Chryssa on the opportunity ahead:
“Aviation and shipping need sustainable fuel sources if we’re serious about decarbonisation. EU mandates are creating demand for synthetic fuels, and the market will respond. Like wind before it, costs will fall - and e-Fuels will become essential.”
Looking Ahead
With this diverse and experienced team, Galetech is well positioned to lead in the development of e-Fuels and contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable future. From technical innovation to commercial strategy, our people are driving change - we look forward to sharing the journey.
