- From Community Support to Champions: Drumcullen Camogie’s Senior B Title
Cush Wind Farm congratulates Drumcullen Camogie Club on their Senior B Championship Final win on Sunday, 12 September 2025. It’s a well-deserved achievement that reflects the team’s hard work, consistency, and commitment on and off the pitch. 🏆 This is a proud sponsor moment for our whole team. Community involvement is at the core of everything we do, and seeing this success on the pitch - built on years of dedication by players and volunteers - makes it even more special. Back in June 2022, after consultation with local residents, committees, and groups in Cush, Co. Offaly, we were approached to support Drumcullen Camogie Club’s fundraiser to raise funds for the Camogie Club. Listening to feedback from the community, we also proudly sponsored the Senior Ladies Camogie team jerseys later that year and were delighted to be given the opportunity to renew the sponsorship again in 2025. "Success like this comes from years of hard graft. We’re glad to have played a small part and look forward to what’s next for the Drumcullen superstars in 2026." -James Carville, Project Manager, Cush Wind Farm

- Propelling Sustainable Aviation and Renewables: Our Next Chapter
This year, Galetech Group celebrates 25 years in business - a journey that began at a kitchen table in County Cavan and has grown into a team of 150 experts delivering renewable energy solutions across Ireland and beyond. From our first onshore wind farm to our latest ventures, one thing has never changed: our commitment to building a greener, more sustainable future through innovation, collaboration, and responsible development. Recently, our founding director, Darren Sherry , and managing director, Herman Busschots , spoke with ReNews about what’s next for Galetech - from strengthening our renewable foundations to pioneering e-fuels for sustainable aviation. Their insights underscored the same principles that have guided us for 25 years: vision, responsibility, and commitment. Strengthening Our Renewable Foundations We are advancing around 750 MW of onshore wind projects in Kilkenny, Laois, and Tipperary, alongside 250 MW in northern England, where policy changes have opened new opportunities. Our approach is deliberate: we only progress projects that have a genuine chance of being built. This means land agreements signed, surveys complete, and a clear pathway to delivery. By doing so, we protect resources, maintain trust, and ensure that each development adds real value to the communities we serve. This strategy also fuels growth across our specialist divisions - Optinergy , providing operations and maintenance services, and EnergyPro , delivering expert asset management. Our e-Fuels Vision The aviation industry faces one of the toughest decarbonisation challenges. The EU’s sustainable aviation fuel targets are already in motion, and we believe e-fuels will be a cornerstone of meeting them . We are taking the first steps now: A 1 MW pilot project in County Cavan is in development. Plans to scale to 30–50 MW , then into the hundreds of MW . Ambitions for gigawatt-scale projects both in Ireland and internationally. By combining large-scale wind and solar with electrolysis to produce green hydrogen, and then synthesising it with captured CO₂, we can create sustainable hydrocarbons for aviation fuel. This is not just an exciting opportunity - it’s a necessity for meaningful emissions reduction in the sector. Growth with Purpose For us, this is about more than megawatts or market share. It’s about shaping a future where clean energy powers every journey - doing so with integrity, foresight, and a collaborative spirit.

- How We Address Common Concerns About Wind Farms
As developers, we know that bringing a wind farm project to life involves more than engineering and planning permissions — it means becoming part of a community’s story. And we don’t take that lightly. Understandably, wind farms raise questions and concerns. Rather than avoiding those conversations, we welcome them. Here’s how we approach addressing community concerns — not as a checklist, but as an ongoing commitment to transparency, respect, and collaboration. 1. Starting with a Conversation Before we ever submit a planning application, we begin by reaching out. We host community clinics & meetings, door to door and connect with residents and community groups to listen and learn. What’s important to you — your views, your routines, your concerns — helps shape how we move forward. We know that listening early makes for better projects and stronger relationships. 2. Sharing Clear, Honest Information We make a point of providing clear, accessible information at every stage of the project — not just technical documents, but easy-to-read leaflets, visuals, and in-person Q&As with our team and experts. We aim to answer questions honestly, even when that means saying, “we don’t know yet, but we’re looking into it.” People deserve facts. 3. Integrating Local Feedback Into Design Community input doesn’t sit in a suggestion box — it directly informs our decisions. That might mean repositioning turbines to reduce visual impact, adjusting access routes, or identifying ways the project can support local priorities, such as biodiversity, education, or recreation. We’re always balancing technical feasibility with community feedback — and we explain how those decisions are made. 4. Rigorous, Internal and External Assessments We undertake comprehensive environmental and technical assessments as part of the planning process, covering everything from wildlife impact to noise modelling and shadow flicker analysis. All of these reports are carried out by qualified professionals in line with regulations — and we make the information publicly available. We also listen to local knowledge, which can be just as important as the data. 5. A Commitment to Ongoing Communication Community engagement isn’t a one-time event — it’s a relationship. We provide updates throughout the project lifecycle, from planning and construction to operation and beyond. We’re available for questions, concerns, or simply conversations — whether online or face to face. Once the wind farm is operational, we continue to monitor impacts and report back to the community. 6. Delivering Local Benefits A major part of our approach is ensuring that the community shares in the benefits of the project. That includes: Community benefit funds to support local initiatives and organisations Educational partnerships with local schools Job creation and supply chain opportunities Potential for energy-related initiatives like retrofitting or solar co-investment We work with local stakeholders to ensure these benefits are meaningful and long-lasting. Check out our Community Hub! We believe wind energy can support not just climate goals, but communities — when it’s done right. That means honest dialogue, responsive design, and long-term investment in local wellbeing. As developers, it’s our responsibility to bring not just clean energy, but transparency, care, and accountability to every project. If you have questions — or if you’d just like to learn more — our door is always open. Contact Deirdre on 087 1163978 or email deirdre@galetechenergy.com
- Our Thank you! Small Gifts, Big Meaning 🌸
Recently, we put together a collection of " Thank You Packages " with one goal in mind: to say thank you. Thank you for the time, the energy, the conversations, and the sense of community that continues to grow around this shared journey. We see the time, energy and effort that goes into every application, every phone call and every email. Each item was chosen with care. Whether it was something practical, something cozy, or something a bit fun, we wanted the gifts to reflect the values we hold close: connection, kindness, and collaboration. Sometimes the smallest gestures speak the loudest—and we hope these gifts did just that. These weren’t just gifts for the sake of giving. They were an invitation—to stay connected, to get involved, and to keep building something meaningful together. It’s amazing how a simple token can open the door to deeper relationships and continued trust. We’re grateful to be part of a community that values people above all. Whether you’ve supported us from day one or only recently crossed paths with us, your role matters. And this was just one small way to say, we see you, and we appreciate you. Because at the heart of every project, every plan, and every step forward—is people. And that’s worth celebrating.
- Hosting Open Days: Building Trust with Local Residents
When something new is being planned a community—like a school, a housing development, or a wind farm—it’s natural to have questions. How will it affect us? Who’s behind it? What will it actually look like? That’s why open days matter. They give a real chance to see what’s happening, meet the people involved, and voice thoughts face-to-face. There’s a big difference between reading about a project and experiencing it. Open days give the opportunity to look around the space, view plans, and ask direct questions. They help take the mystery out of what’s going on and give a clearer picture and feed into the project. It’s reassuring to meet the people driving the project and to see that they’re willing to speak with us, not just about us. More importantly, these events give you a voice. You know your community better than anyone, and your insights matter. When developers or organizers take time to listen—to really listen—it shows they’re not just ticking boxes. We are making space for you in the project journey and in the conversation. Whether you have concerns or suggestions. Its good to have a voice. Open days also help build trust. We’ve all seen projects that started with good intentions but left people feeling ignored. When you are invited in, have questions answered honestly, it shows respect. That kind of openness sets the tone for a better relationship going forward. On all our projects we have a dedicated community liaison, phone number, website and email address. At the end of the day, we all want to feel that changes in our community are happening with you, not to you. Open days are a small but meaningful step in that direction. They remind you that your place, your voice, and your perspective count—and that’s something worth showing up for.
