Cush Wind Farm Substation & Grid Connection

Cush Wind Farm is developing plans for a 110kV transmission substation and grid connection in the townlans of Boolinarig Big, Ross, Glenns and Ballaghanoher, Co. Offaly.

The proposed Cush substation and grid connection will enable  Cush Wind farm to export renewable electricity to the national grid. This will support Ireland's  renewable energy targets, help address climate change, and enhance energy security and sustainability. 

Under the Government's Climate Action Plan 2023, Ireland is targeting 80% renewable electricity by 2030 to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and strenghen energy supply, and Cush Wind Farm will contribute to achieving this goal.

About The Project

The proposed Cush substation and grid connection will enable  Cush Wind farm to export renewable electricity to the national grid. This will support Ireland's  renewable energy targets, help address climate change, and enhance energy security and sustainability.

The proposed Cush substation and grid route is located on agricultural land and was selected for a number of reasons, including

 - The site is well located for connection to the existing national grid infrastructure

-  The site does not include any environmental designations, such as Natural Heritage Areas or Areas of Conservation
