Scoil Naomh Eoin

Some of the best conversations about renewable energy don't happen in meeting rooms—they happen in classrooms.

Our recent visit to Scoil Naomh Eoin in Rath, Co. Offaly gave us the opportunity to spend time with the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th class students, sharing what it's like to work in the wind energy industry and answering the questions that matter most to them.

From how the wind is turned into electricity to why wind turbines are built the way they are, the students showed a genuine interest in understanding the technology behind renewable energy. Their curiosity led to plenty of discussion, with questions ranging from engineering and the environment to the day-to-day life of working on a wind farm.

One of the most memorable parts of the morning was introducing the pupils to the specialist climbing and safety equipment used by technicians. Seeing the harnesses, helmets and other gear up close helped bring the role to life and highlighted the importance of safety in every aspect of the industry. It also gave students a glimpse into careers they may never have considered before.

A special thank you to Ms Walsh for the warm welcome and for creating such an engaging learning environment. It was a pleasure to meet a group of students who were eager to learn, ask questions and share their own thoughts on protecting the environment.

At Galetech, we value opportunities like these to connect with local schools. Encouraging conversations about renewable energy today helps build understanding, inspires ambition and gives young people a greater appreciation of how they can play a part in shaping a cleaner, more sustainable future.

We look forward to returning to Scoil Naomh Eoin again and continuing to support environmental education in the communities where we work.
