Building Connections Through Community: Bunnoe Senior Social Club

At Carrickallen Wind Farm, we are proud to support projects that help people stay connected and strengthen community life. Through the Carrickallen Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund, we were delighted to support Bunnoe Senior Social Club and its programme of social gatherings and outings for older members of the community.
Since 2004, the club has provided valuable opportunities for local senior citizens to come together, enjoy new experiences and maintain the friendships and social connections that are so important to health and wellbeing. In rural communities, these gatherings play a vital role in reducing loneliness, promoting positive mental health and ensuring older residents remain active and engaged.
This year's programme included a memorable summer day trip to Donegal, where 35 members enjoyed a scenic cruise on the Donegal Water Bus, complete with a tour guide and onboard entertainment. The club also organised an autumn theatre outing to the Ramor Theatre, where members enjoyed the Millrace Drama Group's production of Wake in the West, providing plenty of laughter and an enjoyable evening together.
The annual programme will conclude with the club's much-anticipated Christmas gathering in the local community centre, bringing members together once again to enjoy music, dancing, games and the opportunity to share stories and celebrate the festive season with friends and neighbours.
While these events provide enjoyable days out, their greatest value lies in the connections they create. They offer older people the opportunity to meet regularly, support one another and remain active members of their community.
Congratulations to Bunnoe Senior Social Club and its dedicated committee for their continued commitment to supporting older people in the area. We are pleased that the Carrickallen Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund has helped make these important community events possible and we look forward to seeing the positive impact continue for many years to come.
