Galetech Group Partners with Ionica Energy in Scotland

We're delighted to announce that Galetech Group has entered into a development partnership with Ionica Energy, a Scottish renewable energy company based north of the border. This is a partnership we're really proud of, and one we believe will make a meaningful difference to Scotland's renewable energy landscape over the coming decade.

At Galetech, we've always believed that the energy transition isn't something any one company can drive alone. It takes collaboration - bringing the right people, the right expertise, and the right ambition together. That's exactly what this partnership with Ionica represents.

Ron Peddie and the team at Ionica bring deep, on-the-ground knowledge of the Scottish renewables market. They understand the landscape - both literally and figuratively. Combined with Galetech's 25 years of development experience and our end-to-end capabilities across project delivery, engineering, and infrastructure investment, we think this is a partnership with real substance behind it.

Over the next 10 years, the Galetech-Ionica partnership will focus on identifying and developing utility-scale renewable energy projects across Scotland - each with a minimum generation capacity of 50MW. We'll be targeting a mix of technologies that we know will be central to Scotland's clean energy future: onshore wind, ground-mounted solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and the grid infrastructure needed to connect these projects into the existing substation network.

These aren't small ambitions. But then again, Galetech has never been in the business of thinking small when it comes to the energy transition.

This announcement also sits alongside our recently confirmed commitment to invest €3.5 million into the UK renewable energy sector in the years ahead. Scotland is a core part of that vision.

Scotland has long been a world-leader in renewable energy - it has the wind, the space, the political appetite, and increasingly the grid investment to make large-scale projects viable.
