Renewable Energy Education

At Galetech, we believe renewable energy is about more than generating clean electricity, it's about creating lasting benefits for the communities where our projects are developed. Education plays an important role in that commitment, helping young people understand the opportunities and positive impact renewable energy can bring.

As part of our community engagement programme for the proposed Quarry Tree Wind Farm, our team recently visited four local primary schools to deliver interactive renewable energy workshops to over 200 fifth and sixth class students.

The schools visited included:

  • Ballyconnell Central National School

  • Scoil Naomh Bríd, Ballyconnell

  • St. Aidan's National School, Bawnboy

  • Scoil Mhuire, Swanlinbar

Bringing Renewable Energy to Life

Each workshop lasted approximately one hour and introduced students to the fundamentals of renewable energy, wind power, and climate action in an engaging and interactive way.

Throughout the sessions, students explored topics including:

  • How wind turbines generate renewable electricity

  • The environmental benefits of wind energy

  • Ireland's transition towards cleaner, renewable energy

  • Careers within the renewable energy sector

The enthusiasm and curiosity shown by the students made each visit a rewarding experience, with plenty of thoughtful questions and lively discussion throughout the day.

Hands-On Learning

To continue the learning beyond the classroom, every student received a "Build Your Own Wind Turbine" activity kit along with a windmill pencil, giving them a fun way to explore renewable energy concepts at home.

The workshops also complemented the excellent work already taking place through the Green-Schools Programme, reinforcing themes of sustainability, climate awareness, and environmental responsibility.

Thank You to Our Local Schools

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the principals, teachers, and especially the students of Ballyconnell Central National School, Scoil Naomh Bríd Ballyconnell, St. Aidan's National School Bawnboy, and Scoil Mhuire Swanlinbar for making us feel so welcome.

It was a privilege to spend time with such engaged young people, and we hope these sessions have inspired the next generation to learn more about renewable energy and the role it can play in creating a more sustainable future.

Investing in Communities

At Galetech, community engagement remains at the heart of everything we do. Alongside developing renewable energy projects, we are committed to supporting education, encouraging environmental awareness, and creating meaningful opportunities for the communities where we work.

We look forward to continuing our partnership with local schools as the Quarry Tree Wind Farm project progresses and to inspiring future environmental leaders for many years to come.
