At Galetech Group, we believe that supporting local communities goes beyond developing renewable energy projects – it's also about investing in the next generation and encouraging a lifelong appreciation for the environment.
Earlier this summer, our Community Liaison team revisited four primary schools close to our Quarry Tree Wind Farm project to deliver Bosca Dúlra (Nature Boxes) to each school.
The visits followed our renewable energy workshops held with 5th and 6th class students in June 2026, where over 200 pupils learned about wind energy, climate action and the importance of Ireland's transition to renewable energy.
The schools included:
Ballyconnell Central National School
Scoil Naomh Bríd, Ballyconnell
St. Aidan's National School, Bawnboy
Scoil Mhuire, Swanlinbar
The Bosca Dúlra teaching kits are designed by teachers and biodiversity experts to help children explore Ireland's native wildlife through hands-on activities. Each box contains seasonal learning resources, outdoor trails, games, biodiversity challenges and practical projects that encourage pupils to discover the nature all around them. The programme is designed to make biodiversity education engaging, interactive and fun while supporting the school curriculum.
During our visits, it was wonderful to see the enthusiasm from both students and teachers. The Nature Boxes will become a valuable classroom resource, allowing pupils to continue learning long after our visit. From identifying local plants and insects to creating pollinator-friendly spaces and exploring wildlife habitats, the activities encourage curiosity, teamwork and environmental stewardship.
As a renewable energy company, we understand that protecting biodiversity and supporting climate action go hand in hand. By providing these resources, we hope to inspire young people to appreciate the natural environment and understand the important role they can play in protecting it for future generations.
We would like to thank all four schools for their warm welcome and continued enthusiasm. We look forward to seeing how the students use their Bosca Dúlra kits throughout the school year and the exciting nature projects they undertake.
Together, we're helping to grow not only renewable energy, but also the next generation of environmental champions. 🌿🍃
