Connecting with the Community: Visiting Old Mill Wind Farm Fund Recipients

On January 20th 2025, Galetech Energy Developments had the pleasure of meeting the recipients of the community fund supported by Old Mill Wind Farm. This visit was an inspiring opportunity to see the meaningful work being done by local groups, made possible by the resources generated through the wind farm.

The fund is having a tangible impact on the community, supporting organisations like St. Oliver Plunkett National School, St. Oliver Plunketts Solas, St. Oliver Plunkett Community Pre-school Ltd., and Aughnamullen GFC. These groups are channelling the support into initiatives that benefit children, families, and the wider community.

From education and early childhood development to enhancing local sports and recreational opportunities, these projects are a testament to the strength and passion of the community. Meeting the people behind these efforts reinforced how renewable energy can drive not just environmental progress but social and economic development as well.

At Old Mill, the turbines don’t just contribute sustainable energy to the grid—they also empower communities and enable growth. Hearing the recipients’ stories and seeing their work first-hand was an inspiring reminder of the far-reaching value of renewable energy projects.

We’re proud to have been part of Old Mill’s development and to see its continued impact by our project partner, Storm, in action.

To the community fund recipients, thank you for sharing your incredible work with us. Old Mill Wind Farm stands as a shining example of how renewable energy can transform not just the energy landscape but the communities it serves.
