Quarry Tree Wind Farm Project

Quarry Tree Wind Farm is a proposed wind energy development. It would comprise of wind turbines with blade tip heights of up to 200m, each expected to generate around 6.0-7.2 megawatts. The project would also include turbine foundations, access tracks and crane hardstands, underground cabling to connect the turbines, an on-site electricity control building and a grid connection to the appropriate node on the national electricity network.

About The Project

Quarry Tree Wind Farm is a proposed wind energy development. It would comprise of wind turbines with blade tip heights of up to 200m, each expected to generate around 6.0-7.2 megawatts. The project would also include turbine foundations, access tracks and crane hardstands, underground cabling to connect the turbines, an on-site electricity control building and a grid connection to the appropriate node on the national electricity network.

The proposed development is located between the existing Snugborough Wind farm and the two-turbine Corneen Wind Farm, approximately 2.5km north-west of Ballyconnell. Collectively, the turbines are expected to generate enough clean, renewable electricity to supply too around 54,600 houses each year.

A temporary 80-metre meteorological mast has recently been installed on site to gather data on wind speed, temperature and humidity and air pressure. This information will help estimate the potential energy output and design of the wind farm.

FuturEnergy Ireland is also developing a wind farm on the same ridge in parallel with Quarry Tree Wind Farm. This adjacent project is known as Brackley Wind Farm located approximately 5km north-west of Ballyconnell and 3.5km south-east of Swanlinbar in Co. Cavan.
