"I’ve worked as an accountant with Optinergy Ltd - Powered by Galetech Group - since April 2020, supporting wind-turbine O&M in a fast-moving, highly technical environment. My job is simple to describe but critical in practice: translate complex maintenance activity into clear, timely financial insight so managers and technicians can stay focused on availability, safety, and performance. Day to day, I bridge what happens in the field - inspections, corrective work, major component replacements - with what lands in our accounts. I’ve helped implement systems that improve data flow and reporting, giving the team a clearer line of sight between maintenance events and their true cost drivers. Working within the Galetech Group has also opened doors to a wider range of disciplines-engineering, project management, procurement, and data analysis - making it a place where your skill set grows naturally as you collaborate across teams and tackle real operational challenges." Lorraine Foster - Accountant CPA-ACA "I started my Optinergy journey part-time in the storeroom whilst completing my Sustainable Engineering degree in ATU Galway. I am both 2 years into my degree and working with Optinergy and they go hand in hand helping one another. I have gained great insights into the world of turbines and wind farms as well as an appreciation for the work that goes into maintaining and sourcing parts for these turbines. My time in the storeroom helped me get to know our turbine technicians. I have completed six months in Ops Control now and have an in-depth understanding of turbine monitoring as well as performing resets and dealing with grid outages and turbine safety procedures." Evan Brady - Graduate Engineer "As a SHEQ Supervisor at Optinergy, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to projects that truly prioritise safety and sustainability. The company’s culture empowers me to make decisions that safeguard both our team and our clients in what at times can be challenging working conditions. Knowing that my work directly impacts a safer, greener future is incredibly rewarding. The leadership’s support and the tools provided enable me to perform at my best, making all the difference in creating meaningful outcomes. I’m proud to be part of an organisation that values excellence and responsibility at every level." Ciaran Cannon - Field SHEQ Supervisor "I joined Galetech Energy Group back in 2014 as a technician with Optinergy, out on site installing turbines and carrying out major component change-outs. Those early years gave me a real appreciation for the practical side of the industry. Over time I moved into client relations and managing O&M contracts, which opened my eyes to the importance of building trust and keeping projects running smoothly. In 2019, I took the leap into the Development Team at GED as a Project Manager. Since then, I’ve had the chance to work on every stage of wind farm development-from the first feasibility drawings and land negotiations to ecology studies and bringing projects through planning." Marcus Magee - Project Manager I began my journey with Galetech Energy Development in January 2023, during the third year of my Geography and Geosystems degree in the University of Galway, joining the team on work placement. I was fortunate to continue working on a part-time basis throughout my final year of college and later progressed into a full-time role after graduating. GED played a crucial role in supporting me during my studies, offering guidance and mentorship that I’m incredibly grateful for. Since joining, I’ve gained invaluable hands-on experience with GIS, significantly enhancing both my technical skills and confidence.
